Cancellation and refunds

Last updated 30 June 2026

This policy is part of our terms of service. It explains your legal right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and how a refund is worked out.

Your 14-day right to cancel

Because you buy our service online, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of placing your order, without giving a reason. To cancel, email patrick@gethmolicence.co.uk with your name and order details. A clear statement that you wish to cancel is enough.

If you ask us to start within the 14 days

Most landlords want us to begin straight away. When you place your order you ask us to start preparing your application during the cancellation period, and you accept that:

  • If you cancel before the work is finished, you must pay for the work we have already done, charged in proportion to the full £599 fee.
  • Once we have fully completed and submitted your application, the service is finished and the right to cancel no longer applies.

If you would prefer us to wait until the 14 days have passed before we start, tell us when you order and we will hold off.

How refunds are worked out

  • You cancel and we have not started: a full refund of our £599 fee.
  • You cancel after we have started but before submission: a refund of our fee less the proportion for the work already done.
  • The application has been submitted: the service is complete, so no refund of our fee is due.

The council’s own fee is paid by you directly to the council, so any refund of that fee is a matter for the council, not for us.

Our guarantee is separate

Separately from your cancellation rights: if we make an error that gets your application rejected as incomplete, we fix it free. We can never guarantee a licence, because that decision is the council’s.

How we pay a refund

We make any refund to the same card you paid with, within 14 days of your cancellation.

England only — Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have different rules.
